The Value of a CPA Membership
One of the most popular subjects concerning the CPA is why there is a cost of a membership. Hopefully, we can shed some light on what it truly means to be a CPA member, where the financial obligations come into play and what’s in store for the future of this game as we know it.
Anything of Value comes with a Price
The CPA was created for the Good of the Game, it was not created for personal, financial gain. It takes dedicated, passionate people to design, build and implement a quality website. That’s just the beginning. To host a website there is a cost. To monitor a website and forum there is a price to pay, even if it’s personal time commitments. Membership cards are not free to make, neither are T-shirts. Shipping isn’t free. Our time certainly isn’t free. Behind the scenes there are folks with full-time jobs and families. Managing all this becomes a sacrifice for everyone but we march on for the Good of the Game.
I think each of us wants to envision the sport of cornhole, or bag toss, become a household name and blossom into something we can one day watch on TV and make a full-time living at no matter if you are a competitive player, vendor, event coordinator or tournament director. Those are some hefty goals and the challenges we face to achieve them can only happen if the rest of the world can identify with this effort.
Remember, there is something significant about strength in numbers. As with many other professional sports there is a players association. People understand that those associations need financial support to develop and run efficiently. Cornhole is no different. Right now it’s just not as common because the game is not as wide spread. That will change in time.
Our goals are large and we cannot do it alone. We need the support from devoted members who recognize our vision and are willing to sacrifice a nominal fee, as we surrender our personal time and monies for the good of the game. Each person behind the CPA is a financially contributing member. This is important to us and it’s not about the money, it’s about the game.
We have been taking players ideas, concerns and issues out of the chat rooms and forums so we can become more structured and together we can have a positive influence on the game. Issues and concerns will never be taken seriously until we all come together as one.
Our Voice will never be Denied
As our numbers grow, more opportunities will come to light for all of us. Major television networks will notice there is finally structure for this game and hundreds and thousands of people who also respect the game. Rules and formats will progress and the companies who don’t participate will have a difficult time competing. Vendors who manufacture inferior equipment will quickly understand in order to sell merchandise they will have to adhere to specific plans, especially if they want to sell online or in larger venues. There is a lot of competition out there and our CPA Certified Vendors will have an enormous advantage because they will be constructing quality equipment people desire. We will have CPA Members test this equipment and evaluate it to help improve the products.
Not to mention, we have the largest collection of Tournaments listed than any other website and this will only continue to expand. The CPA website will be one of the top sites relating to cornhole. Our member's only forum is still young but never underestimate its potential. In time, the invaluable content within our pages alone will be well worth the cost of a nominal membership. Our site will also be a place members can come to find tournament results, news around the country and the latest developments pertaining to the growth of the game.
One of the most significant concepts the CPA wants to see ensue is increased player participation for tournament directors. We feel the CPA website will greatly help that cause. As more cornhole fans discover our tournaments page the more opportunity tournament directors will have. The Cornhole Players Association brings people together and that’s something we really feel, if anything else, is worth its weight in gold.
