First and foremost we are Cornhole Players. Every Friday Night, weather permitting, you'll find the fine folks at Hammerhead Games playing cornhole, having a cold beverage, and enjoying the friendly competition this game provides as it brings us all together. We are working class people that enjoy our free time, and love the game of cornhole. We also believe that every person, young and old, should be able to have as much fun playing this game as we do, and not have to break the bank to get the finest equipment. Obviously you can buy cheaper sets in stores and on the internet, but that's exactly what you'll get. Cheap. Our product is NOT cheaply constructed 1/2" floor grade plywood mounted on 2 x 4's and cheap bags. Our product IS high-quality furniture-grade wood materials finished with high-grade stains, automotive paints, and a 6-coat lacquer finish, buffed to a high-gloss. Our bags are made from high-quality fabrics, and filled with synthetic corn (recycled plastic resin) so they don't breakdown over time, and can be machine-washed, or high-quality dried whole corn for the traditionalist. We know for a fact that you cannot find a better bang for your buck.
Hammerhead Backyard Games was born from the notion that people deserve a quality product at a fair price. For around $200, you can get superior furniture-quality gaming equipment, the best bags on the market, and accessories that make your cornhole experience the best in a complete game set. Now that is alot of bang for your buck. We have no competitor that can match neither our product nor the value. As well, everything we sell is manufactured right here at our facility in the good old USA, using American Made Materials, by highly-skilled American Craftsmen.
We started building boards in December 2006. As with most small businesses, it all started with one set of boards, and then as friends and family discovered the game, we all of the sudden found ourselves running a small company. By the end of the first year it was obvious that not much innovation or advancement in game equipment was being made, neither by us or any other dealer across the country.
By spring of 2008, the quest was on to make radical improvements in the boards and the other equipment. After painstaking study, and a lot of trial and error, Platform Stabilization Technology was born. We took an innovative approach to constructing the boards to enhance all the good qualities, and eliminate all the annoying features inherent in run-of-the-mill equipment. Besides performance, we also wanted our boards to look the best. That's why you'll never see a single nail or screw anywhere as the boards are set-up for play. Surprisingly, we also found that hiding all the fasteners actually made the unit stronger. It wasn't long that our dissatisfaction with the status quo led to the introduction of our innovative Scoreboards, Hybrid Corn Bags, "The Other End" Drink Caddy, and our Fully-Adjustable Drink Holders.
In October of 2008, Hammerhead Backyard Games introduced its first website. By January 2009, we took our first internet order. By August of 2009, we shipped our first International Order. Today, we have shipped to nearly every state in our country, Canada, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Hammerhead sells direct to the public and through a network of 8 distributors based from coast to coast. Our product innovation and commitment to the finest quality is now and will continue to be what sets us apart. Constant improvement is our way of life. After shipping hundreds of units, we still maintain the "small-company" attitude, and our outstanding customer service is a testament to that. We truly enjoy speaking with our customers, and genuinely want them to be happy. We'll stake our reputation on it. Every so often, we get a call from a customer needing a little "counseling" applying our vinyl decals. We will stay on the phone and walk them through the entire process as they're performing the application. Can't blame them, we'd want it to come out perfect too. Personally, we don't know of any other company that would take the time to do that.
